Laura Colangelo, Director

This is Laura's second year as Head of School. She has a Bachelor's degree from Duke University and a Master's in Education from the University of Kentucky. She has experience teaching children of all ages, but loves the preschool years and thinks that they are essential to providing children a solid and loving foundation for a lifetime of learning. She is married with two children at Bridge Point Elementary in the Eanes school district.

The 18 to 24 Month-old Class: Blue Room
Mrs. Becky Robertson

My name is Becky Robertson and I am excited about my new role as the teacher for St. George's 18-24 months class, the Bluebirds.

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, in August of 1992 with a BS degree in Child Development and Early Childhood. I met my husband, Weldon, at Stephen F. Austin and we married in 1992. Our son Chandler joined our family in 1996. He came into the world at a mere 24 weeks, weighing 1lb. 6oz. After years of praying, in May of 2005 we decided to proceed with the adoption process. Well, on August 31st, 2006 we received a phone call about our daughter Larissa. I held her for the first time on September 14th, 2006 and brought her home, going on 3years, September 15th. Chandler is now 13 and in 7th grade at Wiley Middle School. Larissa is 3 and will be going to school at St. Georges.

I have 16 years of experience working with children. I have on and off worked in corporate preschools. I have taught children in my home, and I have been a nanny. For the past 5 years I have taught Taekwondo in preschools, the program was called Confident Kids. I worked with my best friends at Nowakowskis ATA Family Martial Arts.

Thank you all for allowing me to help raise your children into strong, safe, healthy, and confident ones.

The Young 2's Class: Yellow Room

Mrs. Katie Youngblood

My name is Katie Youngblood, and I've been an early childhood teacher for sixteen years, this is my fourteenth year at St. George's. I have an A.A. from Austin Community College, a CDA (Child Development Credential), and am currently working towards my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, with the ultimate goal of earning my Bachelor's from Texas State. I have two children of my own; my daughter Winona is in her sophmore year in college, and my son James (a St. G's alumni) is beginning his senior year at McCallum high school. My husband Alvin is a third-generation Austinite, and I've lived here since 1981. I've taught children from infancy to pre-k, and I enjoy them all, but hands-down, my favorite age to teach is two year olds. The tremendous growth their in language, social skills, cognitive development, independence, and physical abilities never ceases to amaze me. It is a joy to help guide them through such an amazing time in their lives.

The 2 to 3 Year-Olds Class: Orange Room
Ms. Ashley Gloor

I am from Shiner, TX and studied dance education at Kilgore Jr College and ACC. After that I began teaching creative movement, ballet, tap, and acrobatics to children at Dance Associates. I also became a Registered Massage Therapist and an AcroYoga instructor along with receiving a Liberal Arts Degree from Concordia University. I am still very active in the dance community, and I look forward to combining my movement development skills with the 2-3yr olds classroom environment.

The 3 to 4 Year-Olds Class: Purple Room
Rosemary Russell-Vines

The three year-olds are taught by Rosemary Russell-Vines, who is in her 39th year of teaching at St. George's.

When not at the school, Rosemary enjoys gardening (an enjoyment that she likes to share with the children in the school gardens), reading (especially mysteries), bike riding and going to hear live music.

Rosemary says, "Being with the children is a delight and their enthusiam and joy in learning helps keep me young! They can be a challenge and tiring sometimes, but I wouldn't have wanted to do anything else for the past 38 years!

The 4 to 5 Year-Olds Class: Green Room
Cindy Bogle

Cindy Bogle, who joined St, Georges' staff in 2004, leads the 4 to 5 year-olds in a flurry of activities.

Cindy is a native of Seguin and came to Austin in 1986 to attend the University of Texas. Cindy has worked at Robert E. Lee Elementary as lead childcare teacher for the after school program and opened her own daycare in 1998 where she cared for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old.

"I enjoy the challenges little ones have to offer. Though it is not easy and can be exhausting at times, it is so rewarding. I find that I learn just as much from them as they do from me."

Cindy and her husband Sam have 2 daughters, Dani who attends Lee Elementary and Sami, who attends St. George's.
