Milestones
Developmental milestones that the 4-year-olds at St. George's School frequently achieve:
- Development of listening skills, vocabulary, and communication skills,
- Comprehension of left-to-right and top-to-bottom progression of print,
- Identification of upper and lower case letters and their sounds,
- Engagement in reading and writing attempts,
- Identification of signs and labels in their environment,
- Introduction of basic math concepts such as simple addition, subtraction, and counting from 1-100 by rote,
- Active engagement in science, including the concepts of weather and seasons, exploration of plants and animals, and appreciation for the world around us,
- Continued awareness of health and safety,
- Display self-respect and respect for others, both alike and different,
- Accountability for own actions,
- Understanding and participation in daily routines and activities,
- Development of socially acceptable expression of emotions and self-help skills,
- Awareness of community roles and responsibilities,
- Awareness of the geographic aspects of the world around us,
- Understanding of the meaning of holidays, and
- Continued development of gross motor and fine motor skills.
Supply List
All students at St. George's School should bring a mat, blanket, and pillow for rest time, which are taken home and laundered every Friday.
Students should also leave a complete change of clothes at the school. ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME.
